Program Regulation
GENERAL REGULATIONS
  1. The candidate has to register for all the subjects of a semester to which the candidate is eligible at the beginning of each semester according to the scheduled dates.
  2. The candidate is permitted to register for the next higher semester after completion of a semester course, irrespective of the results in his previous semester papers.
  3. The candidate can continue to register for higher semesters in a similar way along with his registration in failed subjects of earlier semesters for that degree.
  4. The candidate has to finish the degree programme within twice the duration of the academic programme for that degree.
  5. The fee for appearing in the University examination will be as per guidelines communicated to the Study centers by KSOU which is collected along with the fees while registering for a semester.

ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE

  1. The academic assessment in each subject is based on the Internal Assessment at study centers and Term-End Examination conducted by the University.
  2. The University evaluation for practical and project will be done by a panel of examiners appointed by the University.
  3. The Internal Assessment Marks obtained by a candidate cannot be changed or improved upon unless the candidate re-registers for same semester once again.
  4. The candidate can register for Improvement Examination of the term-end University Examination for any subject, either theory or practical, of the earlier semester.  The better performance will be taken into consideration.
  5. The distribution of marks for evaluation in each subject will be as follows:
                 
                 

Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)

              a)  Theory Subjects:

                   Internal Assessment (Based on 2 assignments)    25 marks
                   Term-end University Examination                      75 marks
                   Total                                                                100 marks

              b)  Practical:

                   Internal Assessment (Based on 2 tests)               25 marks
                   (For each practical)

                   Term-end University Examination                      75 marks
                   (One examination for each practical in a semester)
                   Total                                                                100 marks
             
              c)  Project:

                   Internal Assessment                                          50 marks
                   University Examination                                     100 marks
                   Total                                                                150 marks
              
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) & Integrated MCA

              a)  Theory Subjects:

                   Internal Assessment (Based on 2 assignments)    25 marks
                   Term-end University Examination                      100marks
                   Total                                                                125 marks

              b)  Practical:

                   Internal Assessment (Based on 2 tests)               25 marks
                   (For each practical)

                   Term-end University Examination                      100 marks
                   (One examination for all the practical in a semester)
                   Total                                                                125 marks
              c)  Project:

                   Internal Assessment                                          50 marks
                   University Examination                                     100 marks

                   Total                                                                150 marks

PATTERN OF EXAMINATION

Theory Examinations:
              All the terminal examination will be of objective type (for full marks) having one-mark, two-marks and four-marks questions.. The candidate can answer any number of questions in the specified time. However one will be eligible for a maximum of 75 marks for BCA and 100 marks for MCA and Integrated MCA.

Practical Examinations:
     There will be one practical examination by the University for each lab subject.  This examination will include questions on all practical of that semester and candidate has to do a question, which comes to him by lot.  The question may be from one or more subjects of practical conducted during the semester.  The question papers will be got prepared by the University and sent to the Examination Centers.  The University will also depute External Examiners to the Examination Centers for conducting the practical examination. Depending on the strength of the candidates, Study Centers may be clubbed for Practical Examinations and will be held at selected Study Centers.

          Project Work
              University appointed examiners doe’s evaluation. It will be based on any or all of the following aspects:

              a)  Demonstration & presentation of Project Work by the candidate.

              b)  Viva-Voce examination

              c)  Evaluation of content of the Project Work

              d)  Review of Project Reports submitted to SC/KSOU.

MINIMUM MARKS FOR PASSING IN EACH SUBJECT/INTERNAL ASSESSMENT/PROJECT

a) Theory Subject / Practical    - 40% (30 out of 75 and 40 out of 100 for BCA &
                  
                                           40 out of 100 and 50 out of 125 for MCA & INT MCA)

b)       Project Report    40% (40 out of 100 and 60 out of 150 for BCA)
                                       40% (40 out of 100 and 60 out of 150 for MCA & INT
                                       MCA)
                  

c)       Internal Assessment                   - No minimum is prescribed

          d)  A candidate has to secure a minimum of 40% marks from both theory examination as well as internal assessment combined for each subject.  This applies to both practical as well as for project work.

RULES REGARDING RE-ADMISSION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DISCONTINUED ON LATRAL EXIT
         
          A candidate who has sought lateral exit may be permitted to re-register after a gap of period, provided the total period of his/her study for the degree does not extend beyond the prescribed maximum period for that degree from the date of one’s registration.
